Reactor Pressure Transient

🎯 Objective

Monitor the distillation column. When pressure climbs above 100 Bar, immediately open the Emergency Relief Valve before reaching structural limits (150 Bar).

No real equipment. Safe, gamified training.

Chemical Engineering Plant Simulator — Learn Control Room Operations

Step into the role of a control room operator. Our gamified chemical engineering simulator puts you in charge of a mock petrochemical distillation column. Learn how to interpret changing sensor data and respond decisively to emergencies.

What is this module?

This module provides an Interactive HMI (Human-Machine Interface) representing a continuous distillation column. In real-world scenarios, missing a pressure transient can lead to structural failure or environmental incident.

By participating, students understand the critical nature of process control safety and the importance of timely system intervention.

Dashboard Interpretation

Learn to read pressure, temperature, and flow rate indicators simultaneously under pressure.

Emergency Response

Experience timed pressure-spike scenarios where you must take action before critical thresholds are breached.

Safe Environment

No real-world consequences. Reset and refine your response strategy as many times as needed.

How to Play the Scenario

1

Start the Scenario

Click Launch Scenario in the sidebar to begin the 45-second monitoring window.

2

Watch for the Spike

Pressure will begin climbing around the 30-second mark. Watch the telemetry bars and alerts closely.

3

Take Decisive Action

Open the Emergency Relief Valve before pressure reaches 150 Bar to safely normalize the system.
